چکیده

Aim of this paper is to investigate into the differences in the first treatment of Acute Myocardial Infarction (AMI) among Italian regional health care systems, by focusing on the regional distribution of in-hospital deaths. Starting from the theoretical care pathway (from the onset of the illness to hospitalization and recovery or possible death), the inhospital deaths in each region are decomposed into the contributions of the attack rate, hospitalization and in-hospital fatality. The discrepancies in regional behaviour are investigated, in the aim to assess whether they can be attributed to different performances among Italian regions. The study is based on two data sources: hospital discharges, based on Diagnosis Related Groups (DRG) and provided by the Ministry of Health; death and population data by regions of residence, provided by the National Institute of Statistics. keywords: Acute Myocardial Infarction, Fatality rates, Attack rates, Hospitalization rates. Myocardial damage of the entire ventricular region in a patient with acute myocardial infarction

Technetium-99m-pyrophosphate (99mTc-PYP) has been used, in combination with thallium-201, to estimate the site and extent of myocardial infarcts. We report a case of acute myocardial infarction with severe coronary disease in which the distribution of 99mTc-PYP was extensive. A 78-year-old man presented with dyspnea, and a diagnosis of non-ST-segment elevation acute myocar...

Prediction of long-term cardiac events by 123I-MIBG imaging after acute myocardial infarction and reperfusion therapy

Objective(s): In heart failure, the heart-to-mediastinum (H/M) ratio of the delayed image and washout rate (WR) are well-known as a powerful cardiac event predictors. H/M ratio quantifies the accumulation rate of MIBG in the myocardium and WR quantifies reduction of meta-iodobenzylguanidine (MIBG) accumulation in the heart from the early planar image to the delayed pla...

Emotional Triggers of Acute Myocardial Infarction

Introduction: Cardiovascular diseases are the leading causes of death around the world. Identification of triggers that lead to acute coronary events in ischemic heart diseases and their prevention can reduce the complications of myocardial infarction. Objective: The purpose of this study is to determine emotional triggers in patients with acute Myocardial Infarction (MI). Materials and Metho...

Opium dependency and in-hospital outcome of acute myocardial infarction

Background :Impact of substance abuse on outcome of hospitalized patients with acute myocardial infarction (MI) is a frequent question. Available studies show disagreements over its impact, thus we performed this study to find a clear answer.   Methods : In a cross sectional study, 304 patients (include 152 consecutive opium dependents and equal number of independents) with acute MI admitted ...

Prognostic value of C-Reactive Protein in Acute Coronary Syndromes

Introduction: Coronary artery disease (CAD) is among the most common, serious, chronic and life- threatening illnesses in the world. CAD represents a spectrum of conditions, with acute myocardial infarction at one end of it and silent ischemia at the other. There is growing evidence on importance of prognosis of C- reactive protein (CPR) in unstable angina and this protein is a maker of an adve...
